2. My dad bought Iron Man and we’re going to watch it this weekend when I come visit. Hollaaaaa. I haven’t bought IM on dvd yet because I’ve always needed the money elsewhere. :( but now I’ll get to see it again in like a week or so. Woohoo!

Sometimes it’s pretty hard to think about living anywhere else but here. Sometimes.

I think the only thing better than people mass dancing to Thriller is when Ben Gibbard sings it or Jennifer Garner cutes all over it.

Why can’t you? What if you want to? Though I felt out of place most of the time at UT, I went to sewing circle to help make madrigal costumes today, and I felt… outmoded. Unnecessary. Like I was a stranger to these people, though I’ve known some of them for years now.

There’s not a lot holding me to the events of the past five years. A few friends still finishing school, a sense of strange obligation, but actual schooling was, while the locus on which everything I learned and did and felt and saw and made spins around, still not the hub of those five years. I realize for me to be who I am I had to do those things, but I don’t necessarily know if UT was necessarily the only path they could have come to me.

There’s a graphic novel called The Watchmen- it’s very famous and there’s a movie of it coming out in March. One of the characters can control all matter, and since he is made of the universe, he experiences time in a non-linear fashion. He sees himself cheating on the girlfriend he doesn’t have yet, he sees girlfriend #2 breaking up with him, he knows what’s going to happen before he knows what caused it. He sees his past, present and future all jumbled up like an anagram. I tend to remember things the same way. I see who I’m becoming and I see what I used to be but I don’t know why I’m heading in that direction and I don’t know who I am now. I know what I want, yes, and I am immensely frustrated in the pursuit thereof, but I don’t think what we want defines us any more than who we want or what we do. Who we are propels those things.

So when I can’t go back, I can’t go back to see old friends or do old things because we’re scattered about and moved on with our lives, I wonder how I’m going to ever know, and how I’m ever going to be content with the choices I’ve made if there’s never going to be The Reason, The Reason I’m here, the reason all these things happened. And maybe the reason hasn’t come yet. But I will know it when it does. It will feel like an old friend.

Thursday I came home from work to find a rooster walking around my parking lot, long story short I found it a home today, but it was living on my porch for a little over a day. I wish I had taken more pictures of it.

I would like to have some chickens someday but I don’t want to live in the country….hmmm…
