2030
what was the sea
that swept your love away from me
the ocean
that drowning plane of vast emotion
a moat
in tarry black i sink and choke
the supposed gift
of love should soar
and lift
but burdensome
and useless as our hearts become
your worship ways and my sore knees
the extent to which i tried to please
the future laughs
the answers rustling in the trees
punchlines on a summer breeze
spindly hands
a man of reeds
the straw man for my shady deeds
is unbound
and broken
as the summer breathes
