Maid of Horror

**DISCLAIMER**

I am NOT complaining about being in Leigh’s wedding, I love her forever and it is my joy to be a part of this special day.

That being said…

I have no idea what to wear.

I’m the only bridesmaid/MOH so I can really wear whatever I want b/c no one has to match me. great! sortof. Thing is…I never do well with having too many choices, because i can’t decide, right? So.

Dress #1 was kindof an amalgamation of gunmetal and powder blue, kindof a cadet blue. Leetle dusty looking. That was going well until we went looking for fabric for centerpieces and I realized “shades of blue” were erring more towards teal. Those of you who grew up with more than eight crayons will understand the HUGE! HUGE! difference.

So I get more fabric to make a different dress, and not only is the bodice all wacked out (thanks boobs) but! but! I overhear Leigh talking about what everyone else in the party will be wearing to this wedding and I quickly realize I will be the second-best-dressed person there, which is not bueno. Do not want.

So I start working on dress #3, it’s a nice sky blue jersey number, simple as simple can be….and then my machine light flickers, there’s this really bad smell and the pedal GIVES OFF A SPARK.

Oh noes!

I start freaking out, right, because this is oh, MONDAY and I leave for Tyler on THURSDAY and I’m looking at an unfinished dress and a busted machine (I was warned by my sewing machine dude that he’d never seen anyone wear out a machine like I had and that it was on its last legs but nooooooo, didn’t believe him) so I called my dad (to tell me what to do, natch) and go to the mall (to pick out a backup) and I realize it’s just time to buy a new machine. A NEW new one.

So now I am the proud owner of a new singer, which will serve me quite well, I believe (it better, b/c my wallet smarts after that), except that having finished my jersey dress it is both…lumpy…yes, lumpy’s a good word, and too long. And a little big in the bust.(!!!!!?!?!) So I guess I’ll keep working on that tonight. Sigh. Maybe I can whip up a top and skirt out of the other fabric. Or just finish the first dress because it’ll look nice with the hydrangeas. Bet I can do that…I’ll think of something. I am, after all, super cool. Think happy thoughts that I don’t look retarded.
