Oodleday

Renee. Fricking. Fleming.

My article was crap.

I was really proud of it and I thought it was good and I got lots of compliments. I thought it was really good, until I actually went to see Renee (on the 5th row in the very middle oh my god I ROCK) and when I saw her, when I saw her I knew my article was profoundly lama compared to her actual presence and when she opened her mouth and yanked my heart around like a yo-yo, I knew that my article had gone from something I hoped she had enjoyed to the most lackluster thing. Like a blip. I could have done so much better.

Listening to Renee on CD is nothing like seeing her live. Nuh.Thin. She is entralling, gorgeous, intense, charismatic, beautiful, magical, ethereal…wonderful. She is everything I wish I were and hope to be someday.

She would sing and like, my heart would rise to meet her, with every high note it would soar and go thudding back into my chest. It was like she was tossing it around in some sort of fluffy, pastel cage match.

She did 5 encores, not as many as in Fort Worth, but oh lordy, she sang so beautifully. It was like…you know when you feel something so much that you make a 180? Like you’re so happy that you’re almost pissed off about it? I loved her so much I wanted to throw my shoes at her or something.

New Hero: Renee Fleming. For realz.
